Ashveil Chronicles

Ashveil Chronicles is the kind of RPG that respects your time but still gives you a real story. You lead a band of exiles across a continent recovering from a long war, and the writing has a quiet grief to it that most mobile games never attempt. Battles are turn-based and readable, with a clean screen even on a small phone.

The progression system is where it shines. Instead of dumping endless numbers on you, each character unlocks branches that actually change how they fight. We rebuilt our healer into a debuff specialist halfway through and it completely changed boss fights. That flexibility kept us experimenting.

There is grind, as there always is, but the game lets you auto-resolve easy encounters so you spend your attention on the hard ones. It is one of the few mobile RPGs we finished without skimming the cutscenes.
